Hood III

Saturday, February 1st, 2014

More work on the hood.  A little more filler, etch primer, and then K36 high build primer.  Underside also received etch primer followed by a few coats of Sem’s Rustshield.

Hood II

Saturday, January 18th, 2014

The remaining rust under the phoenix decal was taken care of today.  A light coat of filler filled the deep pits.  The hood got a coat of glaze after that.

Black anodized machined hood hinges from Fesler will replace the stamped steel factory hinges.  Quality of the hinges look to be excellent so far.

Hood I

Sunday, January 5th, 2014

The Trans Am hood was seemingly in good shape with only a few small patches of surface rust.  However soda blasting revealed a rusted imprint from where the hood decal once resided.   Most of the rust was removed mechanically and then followed up by chemical rust removal in the deeper pits.

Some modest progress is made after a rather long break.  The air cleaner housing has been shaved of all unused emissions features and the shaker scoop is sanded and primed.
