Today I found an aftermarket intake manifold that is promised to fit under the Trans Am shaker scoop without any modifications.  It’s called a Tomahawk intake and developed by a company called Pacific Performance Racing.

Looks like the only type currently in production is a single-plane.  Many other aftermarket intakes position the shaker slightly different than stock.  For example, Edelbrock’s Performer series cause the carburetor to sit slightly lower and further rearward.  The height can be fixed with a spacer plate and the 1/4″ rearward bias is not enough for interference according to an article on High Performance Pontiac’s website.  Not sure how the Tomahawk perfoms but will keep researching and update my findings.

Have really enjoyed your site, especially jpegs of 67 resto. Have many questions as I am currently restoring a 67 GTO hardtop. Do you have an email where I can ask you about certain problems I’ve encountered in my restoration? You may be able to help me. Thanks, and again, one of the best sites on the net

I appreciate the feedback Frank. My father is restoring the GTO, the Trans Am is mine. I’ll send his email address to you. He’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have. Feel free to send some pictures. I’d like to add a portion to the site that features projects of people that visit the site.
